Wuyi Star (formally Wuyishan Mingquan Tea Co.) is one of the leading producers of Wuyi rock oolong — yan cha — and Da Hong Pao from the UNESCO-listed Wuyi Mountains of Fujian. The Wuyi Mountains are the birthplace of oolong itself and of Da Hong Pao; the six original 'mother bushes' growing on Tianxin cliff have been protected by the state since 2006, and 20 g of leaves from those bushes famously sold at auction for around €20,000 in 2002. Wuyi Star sources from the 'Zhengyan' (正岩, 'true cliff') core zone, where the volcanic rock crevices give the tea its unmistakable mineral 'rock rhyme' (yan yun, 岩韻).
