Shu Pu-Erh · Puwen Tea Factory
孔雀之乡 Kongque Zhi Xiang
Kongque Zhi Xiang means 'Hometown of the Peacock' — pressed by Puwen Tea Industry (普文茶业) in Xishuangbanna, the native habitat of the endangered green peacock and one of the most biodiverse corners of Yunnan province. This 400g cake was pressed in 2018 and produced under ISO 9001 certified conditions. Puwen Tea Factory operates in the Pu'er and Xishuangbanna corridor and has built a reputation for consistent, well-priced factory shu using Menghai-area material. Their ISO 9001 certification reflects a production process that emphasises quality control at each stage — from sourcing and fermentation through to pressing and storage — which is rarer among mid-tier producers than it should be. The 400g format is slightly larger than the standard 357g qizi bing, giving more material per cake at the same price per gram. In the cup: rich dates, dark cocoa, a smooth oily finish and a naturally sweet aftertaste that develops through multiple steeps. Mouthfeel is full and coating. The 2018 pressing has had time to open up and settle: no rough fermentation notes, no earthiness — just a clean, straightforward ripe pu-erh from a producer who knows what they are doing. Good value for everyday drinking. Worldwide delivery.
