宜興柴燒茶壺 Yixing Teapot — Wood-Fired

A Yixing teapot finished in a traditional wood-fired kiln, combining the depth of Yixing clay with the natural effects of flame and ash. The firing process creates subtle variations in colour and texture that make each piece entirely unique — no two wood-fired pots are ever the same. The rounded pear-shaped body offers excellent heat retention and allows tea leaves to fully expand during brewing. This shape is particularly well-suited to shou pu-erh, roasted oolongs, aged white teas and rich red teas, producing a smooth, full-bodied infusion with each steep. Wood-fired Yixing develops a different surface character from electric or gas-kiln pots: flying ash from the hardwood fire lands on the clay during firing, melting into the body at high temperature to form a natural glaze with depth and irregularity that no craftsman could replicate intentionally.
