公道杯 Gong Dao Bei — Fairness Pitcher

A handcrafted ceramic fairness pitcher (Gong Dao Bei 公平杯, also called Cha Hai 茶海) with a warm wood-fired finish and natural ash effects. The rounded shape and comfortable pouring spout allow for smooth, controlled serving during gongfu tea sessions. Each firing creates unique variations in colour and texture — no two pieces are identical. The natural ash glaze forms where flying ash from the kiln lands on the clay surface during the fire, melting into a one-of-a-kind pattern. The gong dao bei solves a fundamental problem in gongfu brewing: pouring directly from a small pot into multiple cups in sequence means the first cup is weaker and the last is stronger. The pitcher receives the full pour from the teapot or gaiwan, equalises the concentration, then distributes evenly to each cup. Everyone gets the same tea.
