Travel tea sets — what's actually useful?
I want to brew good tea away from home — what's the minimum kit?
The essential travel kit: a small (100–150ml) glass or porcelain gaiwan with a lid, 2 tiny cups, a small tin of leaves, and a heat-resistant water source (most cafés/hotels can boil you a cup of water). Optional but life-changing: a leak-proof thermos with hot water reserves. A 'koudike' or single-serve brewing tumbler (insulated, with built-in strainer) is the airport-friendly option — pour leaves and hot water, drink direct, refill. Skip elaborate carved bamboo trays for travel — they break.
