How long does sealed tea last?
I have unopened tins from last year — are they still good?
Rough shelf life sealed in airtight, dark, cool conditions: green and matcha 6–12 months (refrigerated, longer), white 2–3 years (gets more interesting with age), oolong 1–3 years, black 2–3 years, sheng pu-erh decades (intentionally aged), shou pu-erh 5–10+ years. 'Expired' tea won't make you sick — it just loses aromatics and tastes flat. Smell is the best test: if it smells like the bag (paper, not tea), it's lost its life.
