What humidity is ideal for storing pu-erh?
I want my sheng cake to age well at home — what climate does it need?
Target 60–70% relative humidity at 20–25°C. Below 50% RH the fermentation stalls (called 'dry storage'); above 80% you risk mold (Hong Kong/Malaysian 'wet storage' is intentional and skilled, but easy to ruin at home). Use a 'pumidor' — a sealed cabinet with a Boveda 62% humidity pack — for serious aging. For casual storage, a paper bag in a closet away from light and kitchen smells is fine. Stay out of basements (mold) and attics (heat).
