Is tea good for digestion?

I've heard pu-erh after meals helps digestion — is that real?

Real, especially for shou pu-erh and aged sheng. Pu-erh contains gallic acid and microbial byproducts that stimulate bile production and gut motility — Chinese restaurants traditionally serve it with greasy meals for exactly this reason. Black tea theaflavins also support digestion. Avoid green tea on an empty stomach if you're sensitive — high catechins can cause nausea. Best digestive tea: a small bowl of warm shou pu-erh 20–30 minutes after a heavy meal. Genuinely effective, not just folklore.
